Sancha's father was Alfonso (The Brave) Jiminez of Castile and Leon VI and her mother was Zaida al Mu'tadid. Her paternal grandparents were Count of Castile Ferdinand (The Great) Jiminez I and Sancha de Leon. She had three sisters named Teresa, Elvira and Elvira. She had a half-sister named Urraca.
