Roger was born about 1073 in Bucks, Oxfordshire, England.1   Roger's father was Ralph de Chesney and his mother was Maude de Waterville.  His paternal grandparents were Walter de Caen and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were William de Waterville and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and a sister, named Ralph, William, Philip and Sibyl.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died in 1109.2
