John de Brus

John was born about 1168 in Annandale, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.¹ John's father was Sir William de Bruce and his mother was Christina. His paternal grandparents were Robert (le Meschin) de Brus II and Agnes Paynel. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, William and Dame. He was the third oldest of the four children.
