Robert was born about 1142 in Newton, Cheshire, England.1   Robert's father was Thurstan de Banastre and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Thurstan de Banastre and <Unknown>. He had two sisters named Maud and Margery.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died in 1192 in Walton Manor, Lancashire, England.1
