Blanchette was born in May 1367 in Kettlethorpe Manor, Kettlethorpe, Lincolnshire, England.1   Blanchette's father was Sir Hugh Swynford and her mother was Katherine De Roet.  Her maternal grandparents were Sir Payne (Paon) De Roet (Of Guienne) and Bonneuil Chenerailles. She had a brother named Thomas.  She was the older of the two children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Fairborn and Joan.
