Jane was born in 1805 in Kentucky.1   Jane's father was John Reeves and her mother was Catherine Perry.  Her paternal grandparents were George Reeves and Sarah; her maternal grandparents were Obadiah Perry and Elizabeth. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Thornberry, Henderson, John, Rebecca, Susan, Ruth, Mildred and Nancy.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
