Eleni was born in 0906 in Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.1   Eleni's father was Emperor Romanus Lekapenos of Byzantium I and her mother was Theodora of Byzantium.  Her paternal grandparents were Theophylaktos Abstartus and <Unknown>. She had five brothers and a sister, named Throphylanos, Christophoros, Stephanos, Konstantinos, Theophylaktos and Agata.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
