Sarah was born about 1796 in Green County, Tennessee.1   Sarah's father was Nathaniel Cooper and her mother was Christiana Hughes.  Her maternal grandparents were Harry Edwin Hughes and Nancy Ann Lachtaw. She had four brothers and a sister, named David, Kennedy, Thomas, James and Keziah.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died about 1829.1
