Mr George Vardy MBE 
George was born on June 9th, 1874 in North Shields, Northumberland. George's father was John (Jack) Vardy and his mother was Sarah Jane Charlton. His paternal grandparents were Mr George Vardy and Jane T Drew; his maternal grandparents were Capt Michael Charlton and Mrs Sarah Bull. He had a sister named Amy. He had three half-sisters named Tonia, Denise and Maxine. He died at the age of 55 on December 25th, 1929.Death Notes

George had been an Engineer and had a fair bit to do with the building of the first ‘Mauritania’ a ship which held the Blue Ribbon of the Atlantic for 29 years. Involved in sea trials which identified engine vibration problems
