Jane's father was Richard Pinchin and her mother was Eleanor Mitchell.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mitchell and Betty dJoshua Beaven. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Richard, Ann and Emma.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
