George's father was George Parker and his mother was Anna (Hannah) Ford. His maternal grandparents were Richard Ford and Ann Smith. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Joseph, Sarah, Julia, Elizabeth and Angelina. He was the third oldest of the seven children.
