Ida's father was Nathaniel Beaven and her mother was Sarah Coombs. Her paternal grandparents were Job Beaven and Eliza Hancock. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Luke, Sarah, Alice, Rose and Florence. She was the youngest of the seven children.
