John Stere

John was born before 1560 and his baptism took place on January 7th, 1561 in Horsham Sussex.¹   His godfathers were John Bottinge, John Owton and his godmothers were Joan Elis, wyffe.

John's father was Elis Stere and his mother was Elysabeth Newnam. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Richard, Elis, Mathew, James, Elysabethe, Margeret, Anne, Elizabeth and Joan.  He was the second oldest of the ten children.
