Elas was born in 1644 and his baptism took place on July 16th, 1644 in Lodsworth.1   Elas' father was John Steare and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Mathew Steare and Mary Bridger. He had a brother and three sisters, named Daniell, Jane, Ann and Joane.  He was the second youngest of the five children.
