Thomas was born in 1793 in Wisborough Green, Sussex and his baptism took place there on March 28th, 1793.1   Thomas' father was George Steer and his mother was Mary Pellett.  His maternal grandparents were James Pellett and Mary. He had two brothers named James and William.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had two half-sisters named Mary and Hannah.  He died at the age of 3 in 1796.2
