Edward was born in 1719 and his baptism took place on February 10th, 1718 in Fittleworth Sussex.1  Edward's father was John Steer and his mother was Jane Ward. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Samuel, William and Jane.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
