David was born in 1835 and his baptism took place on February 15th, 1835 in Petworth.1  David's father was Thomas Steer and his mother was Sarah steer. He had six brothers and six sisters, named John, Frederick, James, Edwin, Jesse, Thomas, Mary, Dinah, Emily, Caroline, Ellen and Charlotte.  He died at the age of 11 in 1846.  He was buried on February 3rd, 1846.
