Ivy was born about 1902 in Sunderland Durham.1   Ivy's father was Walter Ernest STEERS and her mother was Edith Alice STEERS. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Douglas Ernest, James Henry, Reginald, Phyllis May, Agnes Mary and Elsie Margaret.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
