Alice was born about 1876 in Canterbury, Kent.1   Alice's father was Joseph STEERS and her mother was Lucy STEERS. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Joseph, Charles A, Annie L, Amelia, Mary A E and Lucy.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
