Martha E was born about 1859 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.¹ Martha E's father was William STEERE and her mother was Ann STEERE. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William H, John R, Letitia A, Elizabeth A and Mary J. She was the youngest of the six children.
