Walter was born about 1902 in Rotherham.1   Walter's father was George Henry STEER and his mother was Agnes Ellen Longdin.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Harriet LONGDIN. He had a brother and a sister, named Harry and Helen.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
