Tom was born about 1872 in Norwood, Surrey.1   Tom's father was Abraham STEER and his mother was Susan STEER. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Harry, Frank, Sidney, Kate and Marie.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
