Sydney was born about 1878 in Lingfield Surrey.1   Sydney's father was William STEER and his mother was Annie STEER. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Arthur W, Albert E, Alice, Kate, Agatha and Clara.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
