Sidney was born about 1885 in Skelton, Yorkshire.1   Sidney's father was Henry STEER and his mother was Annie STEER. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Earnest, Herbert, Harriet, Jane and Edith.  He was the oldest of the six children.
