Mary Annie was born about 1869 in Oldham, Lancashire.1   Mary Annie's father was Herbert STEER and her mother was Mary Ann STEER. She had a brother and three sisters, named Wm Hy, Sarah Elizabeth, Lucy and Fanny.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
