Mary Ann was born about 1904 in Brighton Sussex.1   Mary Ann's father was William Richard STEER and her mother was Sally STEER. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Henry Maurice, Ernest Richard, John Walter, Margaret, Edith, Doritey Rose and Grace Fanny E.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
