Lydia was born about 1886 in Kirdford, Sussex.1   Lydia's father was James STEER and her mother was Elizabeth J STEER. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Edward, James, Elizabeth, Ruth and Annie.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
