John Thomas was born about 1890 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.1   John Thomas' father was Henry STEER and his mother was Mary STEER. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Walter, William H, Joseph, Mary Ann, Lizzie and Jane.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
