John was born on October 3rd, 1785 in Limpsfield Surrey. John's father was John STEER and his mother was Susana WATFORD.  His paternal grandparents were William STEER and Elizabeth HASWEL. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Edward, Jane, Amelia and Susan.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 54 in July 1840 in Limpsfield Surrey.  He was buried on July 8th, 1840 in St Peter, Limpsfield, Surrey..1 2
