Harriott was born about 1855 in Billingshurst Sussex.1   Harriott's father was James STEER and her mother was Jane Elliott.  Her maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and her maternal grandmother was Rebecca ELLIOTT. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Moses and Rebecca.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
