George Hy was born about 1877 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.1   George Hy's father was Thomas STEER and his mother was Mary Ann STEER. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas W, John W, Anny, Cristina and Polly.  He was the oldest of the six children.
