George D was born about 1866 in Surrey.1   George D's father was John STEER and his mother was Sarah Roffey.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Elizabeth ROFFEY. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James J, William H, Sarah E and Alice.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
