George C was born about 1871 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire.1   George C's father was Richard F STEER and his mother was Jane B STEER.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Jessie Y BLACK. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Richard F, Thomas B, Janet Y, Mary S and Pauline C T.  He was the oldest of the six children.
