George was born about 1875 in Banstead Surrey.1   George's father was William STEER and his mother was Emily Harriett STEER. He had a brother and four sisters, named William Hy, Amy Harriett, Julia Blanche, Alice Emma and Grace.  He was the oldest of the six children.
