George was born about 1860 in Essex.1   George's father was Edmund STEER and his mother was Eliza King.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Elizabeth KING. He had a brother and a sister, named Benton and Eliza.  He was the oldest of the three children.
