George was born about 1909 in Oswaldtwistle Lanc.1   George's father was J T D STEER and his mother was Margret STEER. He had four brothers and a sister, named Robert, Henry, John Thomas Dixon, James Edward and Lottie.  He was the youngest of the six children.
