Evelyn was born about 1896 in Sheffield, Yorkshire.1   Evelyn's father was Charles STEER and her mother was Martha R STEER. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John A, Charles W, Willie, Jennie and Minnie.  She was the youngest of the six children.
