Ernest Walter was born about 1899 in Accrington Lancashire.1   Ernest Walter's father was Walter STEER and his mother was Alice Maude STEER. He had two brothers and a sister, named Bertram Leslie, Wilfrid Gabriel and Mary Winifrid.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
