Eliza was born about 1834 in Bovey Tracey Devon.1   Eliza's father was Benjamin STEER and her mother was Mary STEER.  Her paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Edwin, Jonas, Anna and Mary Ann.  She was the oldest of the five children.
