Edwin was born in 1847 in Coseley, Staffordshire. Edwin's father was Edwin STEER and his mother was Rebecca ASTON.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas STEER and Catharine Maria STANYON. He had a brother and a sister, named Edwin and Emma.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 4 in 1851 in Dudley Worcestershire.1
