Edith Martha was born about 1881 in Westerham, Kent.1   Edith Martha's father was Samuel STEER and her mother was Frances STEER. She had a brother and four sisters, named Henry Samuel, Sarah Ann, Georgina Ellen, Ethel Mary and Ann Frances.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
