David W was born about 1892 in Gelligaer, Glamorganshire.1   David W's father was Thomas STEER and his mother was Mary STEER. He had five sisters named Margaret E, Florence M, Gwen, Joan Annie and Jessie.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
