Ann was born about 1833 in Newton Abbot, Devonshire.1   Ann's father was Steer and her mother was Jane STEER. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Joseph, Nicholas, Charles, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
