Ann was born in 1771 in Godstone Surrey.1 Ann's father was UNKNOWN and her mother was Mary STEER. Her maternal grandparents were John STEER and Elizabeth FRITH. She was an only child. The Skinner surname has not been confirmed, and is probably madeup years later to cover illegitimacy in the family.Married by Licence in 1793, of Limpsfield, Ann of Crowhurst.Beneficiary in her mother Mary's will made in 1804 and proved in1807.Beneficiary mentioned in the will of Edward STEER made 1813.Will of Ann STEER signed 23 July 1810, of Crowhurst in theCounty of Surrey, widow, whereas my late departed husband JohnSTEER of Crowhurst aforesaid departed this life intestate, byreason of which I consider myself entitled to dispose of fivehundred pounds as my share of his personal estate and effects.Bequests: To sons John STEER and Robert STEER the sum of onehundred pounds apiece to be paid to them as they shallrespectively attain the age of twenty one years or within 12months of my decease, which shall last happen in considerationof my late mother Mary WARE deceased having bequeathed onehundred pounds apiece to my other children by her will. To sonBenjamin the sum of one hundred pounds. The remaining twohundred pounds in equal shares amongst my children Mary, Edward,Thomas, George, William, John, Jane and Robert when they shallattain the age of twenty one years or within twelve months aftermy decease which shall last happen.
