Alfred Edwin was born about 1910 in St Helens Durham.1   Alfred Edwin's father was Thomas Frederick STEER and his mother was Susannah. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas Frederick, Alice Agnes and Doris May.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had two half-sisters named Sarah Ann and Rachel Miriam.
