Alfred was born about 1905 in London Croydon.1   Alfred's father was Alfred Steer and his mother was Selina Lewis.  His paternal grandparents were John James STEER and Fanny STEER. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Amelia and Esther.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
