Sidney was born about 1908 in Rochester Kent.1   Sidney's father was Sidney STEARS and his mother was Mabel POWERS.  His maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Francis POWERS. He had two brothers and a sister, named Horace, Leonard and Nellie.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
