George was born about 1873 in Dodworth Yorks.1   George's father was James STEAR and his mother was Mary Ann STEAR. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Charles Hy, Sam, John Walter, Sarah Ellen, Hannah Eliz and Gertrude.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
