Emma was born about 1849 in Kenwyn, Cornwall.1   Emma's father was John STEAR and her mother was Eliza STEAR. She had seven sisters named Elizabeth, Rozanna, Eliza, Nancy, Catherine, Lydia and Ellen.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
