Goad was born on 18-Sep-1839.Goad's father was Samuel Boileau Goad and his mother was Emma (Gordon).  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Thomas Goad and Jane M.  He was the oldest of four children.  He had a brother and two sisters, named Frederick, Clara and Anna.
